“We do not want you to leave, Lizzie, and living alone, if he should happen to know where you live, would be most unwise. Besides, we would spend much of our time worrying about you. It is best you continue to stay with us where we can protect you. Hopefully, he will realize that taking us on would be more than he could handle, and he might suffer for it.”

“I agree,” said Margaret. “I know I may be a target because of our friendship, but like you, I am not going to change my life because of him. And I certainly will not let him drive a wedge between us. We will continue as we always have. Do you agree, Lizzie?”
